Deer, rabbits, birds and other animals are part of our natural environment. They aren't deliberately trying to destroy our gardens — they are simply behaving naturally, searching for food, shelter and somewhere to live.

Our approach has always been to look for better ways for gardens, people, pets and wildlife to coexist.

That principle has guided the development of our approach to both wildlife protection and plant recovery.

Why We Developed Our Deer & Wildlife Repellent

Our Deer & Wildlife Repellent grew directly from this long-established philosophy.

Deer are magnificent animals, but when they discover a garden filled with roses, shrubs, flowers and tender new growth, the damage can be considerable.

We wanted to give gardeners a practical way to help protect vulnerable plants without making harming the animal part of the solution.

The result was our Deer & Wildlife Repellent.

Its purpose is straightforward: to help discourage wildlife from damaging treated plants and areas, creating a practical protective boundary between the animal and the plants we want to preserve.

For us, this is protection without persecution.

The wildlife remains wildlife. The gardener gets a way to protect vulnerable plants. And both can continue to share the same environment.

But Protecting the Plant Is Only Half the Story

There was another part of the problem that we felt was often overlooked.

What happens after the damage has already occurred?

A deer may have eaten the fresh shoots from a favourite rose. Rabbits may have browsed tender new growth. A plant may have suffered through drought, extreme weather, pruning or other physical damage.

We naturally think about preventing the problem from happening again.

But we don't always think about supporting the plant afterwards.

That's why our philosophy goes beyond simply discouraging wildlife.

We want to protect the plant and support its recovery.

Why We Developed FloraFriend

This thinking helped lead to the development of FloraFriend – Calcium-Rich Foliar Nutrient.

FloraFriend approaches the problem from the plant's side.

Rather than acting as a wildlife repellent, FloraFriend provides calcium and essential trace elements directly to the foliage, helping support strong, healthy plant growth.

Calcium is an essential plant nutrient with an important role in cell-wall development and the formation of healthy plant tissue.

This becomes particularly relevant when a plant is producing new leaves, shoots and stems following browsing, pruning or other periods of stress.

FloraFriend is designed to support:

Strong cell-wall development
Healthy leaves, shoots and stems
Normal plant growth and development
Strong, resilient plant tissue
Healthy new growth following periods of stress or damage

Applied directly to leaves and stems, FloraFriend's nutrients can be absorbed into the plant tissue rather than relying on maintaining a protective coating on the surface.

As the plant continues to grow, however, it produces new leaves and shoots that weren't present at the previous application. That's why we recommend reapplying FloraFriend approximately every 4–6 weeks during active growth, depending on the rate of new growth.

Each application helps provide nutrition to the new foliage that has developed since the previous treatment.
