Wildlife Issue: Roe deer entering garden at night
Problem Summary: Fresh rose shoots bitten down to 2–3cm above soil
Product Used: DeerEx Concentrate Powder
Application Method: Direct plant spraying + perimeter barrier spray

Garden Background

Sarah had newly invested in 40 hybrid tea roses, planted along the southern border of her garden. Her property borders woodland, and roe deer had been using her garden as a nightly feeding route.

Damage was occurring every two nights, particularly targeting:

New rose shoots

Soft foliage

Buds at early formation

Assessment of Wildlife Behaviour

Roe deer were entering through an open area between two hedgerows.
Tell-tale signs observed:

Parallel hoof prints

Fresh droppings

Clean “snipped” shoots typical of deer browsing

Strategy Implemented

Step 1 — Direct Plant Spray

50g sachet mixed to 9L full-strength plant spray

Roses sprayed thoroughly until runoff

Focus on new growth, buds and stems

Step 2 — Perimeter Barrier Spray

A 2m scent barrier created along the hedge gap

Applied twice in week one

Step 3 — Night Monitoring
Customer used a motion camera to track behaviour.

Results Over Time

Week 1

Motion cam showed hesitation and avoidance

No new browsing damage

Week 2

Roses showing signs of healthy new growth

No bite marks

Barrier lightly refreshed after rainfall

Week 4

Night visits reduced from every 2 days to zero

Growth strong, buds forming normally

Week 6

Full flowering with no measurable deer activity

Customer Feedback

“For the first time in years, I’ve had a full rose display untouched. DeerEx stopped the damage within 48 hours. Completely transformed the garden.”
